Biography

Sung Kyu Park is the Professor of school of electrical and electronics engineering at Chung-Ang. University, Seoul, Korea. He received his Ph. D degree from The Pennsylvania State University, University Park, PA in 2007. He was employed at Korea Electronics Technology Institute (KETI), Korea, from 1997 to 2003, and Eastman Kodak Company, Rochester, NY from 2007 to 2008 as a research scientist, respectively. In 2011, he joined Chung-Ang. University and is now working on convergence electronic materials, devices, and systems. His group reported photochemically activated sol-gel electronic materials and devices for the first time. After twenty-five years at the KETI, Eastman Kodak Research Center, and Chung-Ang University, Prof. Park’s research focuses on exploratory electronic materials and devices. His current areas of research interest include organic, metal-oxide, chalcogenide materials and electronics, ultra-fine fiber-based electronics, large area sensors, and display technology.

Abstract for Presentation

Amorphous Oxide Thin-Film-Transistors for Process-in-Sensor and Optoelectronic Applications

Optoelectronic devices based on amorphous indium-gallium-zinc-oxide (a-IGZO) thin-film-transistors and circuits are demonstrated by constructing hybrid heterojunction structure with various nanostructured light harvester. Specifically, through utilizing a quantum dot and metal chalcogenide layers integrated with different optical properties as a light harvester, the a-IGZO phototransistor exhibits evidently enhanced color detection ability with neuromorphic memory function. Furthermore, we demonstrate the neuromorphic optoelectronic device circuit system with light-controllable modulation (potentiation/depression) function for efficient neuromorphic computation, realizing process-in-sensor applications.
